Dr. Joel Orlando Trinidad attended the faith based Rosenberg School of Optometry where he underwent four years of extensive training to receive his Doctorate of Optometry degree. The Rosenberg School of Optometry is a post-graduate professional program within the University of Incarnate Word located in the heart of San Antonio, TX.
Prior to receiving his doctorate of optometry degree, Dr. Trinidad attended the Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi where he received a bachelor’s degree in science with an emphasis on Bio-medical sciences. Dr. Trinidad received a wide spectrum of clinical training in various areas of optometry including ocular disease, Specialty contact lenses, pediatric eye care, low vision, vision therapy, and primary eye care.
Dr. Trinidad maximized his optometric training in ocular disease and peri-operative management by completing an externship program in a private practice ophthalmology clinic by the name of Eye Centers of South Florida, located in North Miami Beach, FL. The clinic worked alongside a variety of surgical specialists including retina, cataract, LASIK, oculo-plastics and ocular prosthetics. Dr. Trinidad completed his second externship experience at the William V. Chappel Jr. Veteran’s multi-specialty out-patient clinic located in Daytona Beach FL. The veteran affairs clinic had a primary focus on low vision, contact lens, ocular disease, and traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Trinidad strives on performing top notch comprehensive eye exams that provide quality patient education in efforts to protect the well-being of all patients and satisfy their visual needs. His optometric areas of interests include myopia control management with children and scleral lens fittings for all ages. Myopia control is a practice which aims to halt the progression of 'near sightedness' in rapidly developing children. This is achieved by the use of pharmaceutical agents and/or specialty contact lenses.
Outside of clinic, Dr. Trinidad enjoys exploring hiking trails with his dogToby, spending time on lake Austin, and taking frequent snowboarding trips in the appropriate season. Dr. Trinidad also enjoys participating in full and half marathons throughout the year and is an avid cross fitter and weight lifter.
